The quayside workshops

This space, which we have named "the quayside workshops", supports the various themes addressed during the Myst'Air escape game on board. Here you can find:
GIANT COLOURING
A giant colouring sheet featuring 8 Vies' activities on the theme of air quality. It depicts the fire at the Saint-Chamas waste storage facility, our air quality sensors, the association's mascot, pollution caused by factories and ships as well as plastic waste, and finally our replanting of sea eelgrass in the lagoon (role in carbon capture).
PIRATE STAMPS
A kit containing stamps for use as tattoos (special skin-safe ink that washes off easily with water). They cover the themes of air quality, water quality, and wildlife protection.

Bird and bat boxes
Bird and bat boxes

This workshop aims to build specific habitats for various birds (tits, common swifts and others) and for bats.
The wood is reclaimed from pallets (heat-treated, no chemical treatment) and pre-cut so that participants only need to assemble the pieces.
During the workshop we discuss the lifestyle and ecological role of the species involved.

Wild plant foraging

Our outdoor discovery outings invite residents to reconnect with nature — walking, observing, and learning on a nature walk. We explore the physiological properties of plants as well as their active compounds and nutritional qualities. A wild plant forage and/or a solar oven cooking session at the end of the walk may round off the outing.

Origami
Origami

In this workshop, we talk about brown marmorated stink bugs (an invasive species introduced by humans) that are spreading across the territory. We observe the insects using a microscope, then fold them in origami paper. These paper insects can serve as the basis for the "Stop Motion" workshop (see below).

Stop motion

The Stop Motion workshop brings everyone's imagination to life to tell a story. Using a camera positioned overhead, we create stop-motion films
with our frame-by-frame video system. We can use this tool to create short animated films on environmental topics (pollen, air pollution, hydrocarbons, etc.).

Compost treasure hunt
Compost bin treasure hunt

During this fun outing, children aged 6 to 16 go in search of the communal compost bins in their town (Saint-Chamas) and identify the one closest to their home.
They discover life inside a compost bin using dedicated observation tools and learn how a simple sorting gesture can transform their food waste into fertiliser for plants or enrich the soil.
