Acting against the accumulation of plastic waste
Marine environments are victims of waste accumulation, particularly plastic waste. This waste, mostly drained by rivers, arrives in the lagoon and deposits on the banks or seabed. It degrades into microplastics and seriously harms marine biodiversity.
We collect waste in key areas where decomposing plastics are most dangerous to marine species, and increasingly difficult to collect. Collection activities are accompanied by friendly workshops to unite the public around our actions. We have developed sports-based collection workshops, photo challenges, nature discovery activities and solar cooker cooking sessions.
Many volunteers participate in our shoreline clean-up sessions...
Thank you all!
Thanks to our boat, the "batOlab", we can reach areas inaccessible on foot to clean the lagoon's shores. In 2025, in addition to regular waste collections, we organise citizen water-based collections using the batOlab, canoes and paddleboards.
In the "L'étang de s'y mettre" project, we add a participatory dimension through mini thematic talks and round tables around the lagoon. These exchange moments allow us to inform the public about our lagoon actions and encourage more volunteers to join seagrass replanting. These actions take place throughout the year (5 clean-ups in 2024).
